The War On Love:

by Scott Cole   Sep 30, 2019

I am a rose
the rosy red rose
a symbol of
love and woes

I stand for hearts
wholehearted or scorn
for my armor
is queued in thorns

With followers of many
that look up to me
all spread out
as far as can see

wearing camo jackets
dressed like a tree
while holding back forces
those fingers and bees

As long as they can
as long as I need
Until I succeed
Or gone is my seed

So I'm well protected
to fight off the haze
and clear the battlefield
for sake of your gaze

When all dust has settled
all said and done
i never did surrender
though fought moon and sun

So come rain or shine
Hero or awol
I'll defend your honor
Against them all

Beautiful rhyming! Front pager perhaps? I think stanza 6 and 7 take this piece to a deeper level. Some repetition in the first and last is a lovely touch.
