Spring

by Tanya Southey   Oct 4, 2019

Wistful wisteria
lays in wait,
watching,
not knowing
that it is the day
before the leaves
appear

Naked branches
blanched in shyness,
scrape the ice
from the sky,
and know it is the day
before the leaves
appear

Frozen heart,
locked in loneliness,
sees the other
in herself
and feels it is the day
before the leaves
appear

  • This is so stunning, I love this time just before spring dances in, that sense of hopelessness slowly melts away and you certainly captured that. Beautiful imagery

I love how the alliteration starts off the poem smoothly, and also the repetition “before the leaves appear.”
There is always something in your poetry that is really warm. Love this!! :)
