In the event

In the event
That I shouldn't recover
Some sense of normalcy
Understand please,
My mind is bent.

In case of emergency
I beg of you,
Don't listen to the rantings
Of my lunatic brain
Try to hear me.

If such a day should arise
In which you find
I am at odds with your heart
Please don't turn a blind eye
Seek the real me deep inside.

If I should betray your trust
Tear you in two
Throw you in the gutter
God knows I'd much rather
Turn myself to dust.

Yet all these will occur
And I will in glorious rage,
Shed all sense of reality
To me all normalcy will be
A drug induced blur...

Forgive me father
For I have sinned
Betrayed myself
To the demons within,
Seducing each other...

Cast me out if you will
My mind is undone
My soul has been shred
My heart poured out
To paper from quill

In the event
I find me again
Seal my fate
Please forget
My mortal debt

    I've missed your work, Hazel

    • Thank you my friend. In all honesty I've been fighting myself over whether to write or to hide and I figured let it out. This is the first of hopefully many that I'll be writing about a new stage in my life where I learn to accept what I cannot change, namely mental illness

You're on the right course, Hazel. In my experience, mental illness is not something that can necessarily be changed, but it can certainly be managed.
      Do take care
