Final Rest (cubist style poem)

by Larry Chamberlin   Dec 7, 2019

Tear runs down a sallow cheek
aged body lies in the bier
lips that kiss a forehead
are unmarked by makeup
hands folded in peace
ears ignore banalities
“sleeping” “better place”
but catch silent weeping
of an octogenarian child
mama’s not coming home tonight.
