When It Feels Right

by Walter   Jan 4, 2020

There was a girl from back in school
I had a crush and played the fool
She was my dream she was my wish
But I was just another fish

I tried to win her heart but no
Her feelings back she didn't show
The first girl I had fallen for
My heart I picked up from the floor

Another girl later I would meet
She was lovely and sounded sweet
We first went out just as friends
And a lot of time with her I'd spend

The end of year was a party night
With everyone happy and feeling light
And who else came to talk to me
The girl I'd fallen for originally

Like something changed in her mind
Now she's acting genuinely kind
Standing close right by my side
Then even offering me a ride

And although I'd had a bit to drink
The answer I didn't have to think
I said I can't I'm with that girl there
And she could only stop and stare

A few years later that had past
The girl I was with didn't last
One night out walking and feeling low
I didn't have any place to go

And who else did I bump into
Feels like I'm destined to see you
An instant smile lit upon your face
That we should meet in an unusual place

On the corner and in the town
Suddenly your look turns to frown
You said your boyfriend isn't far
As he's just gone to get the car

Sometimes I think fate plays a hand
To bring us now to where we stand
Like we both know we're meant to be
Not just a possibility

But again we went separate ways
I'm so confused at how love plays
When to leave or when to chase
Seems neither of us can win this race
