See-Through

by Walter   Feb 10, 2026

Like a river when it falls
There is no pain to feel
Although it lands on jagged rocks
It seems to quickly heal

Then flows into a lake
Its surface becomes smooth
No ripples now are showing
As if a time to soothe

But underneath its surface
A different story hides
All dirt that was collected
Taking time to divide

And slowly building layers
Known as sediments
It hides them from above
Each one that was intense

But you will never know
By looking at my skin
Although you see no bruises
That hide so deep within

When I'll become a mirror
An angle which reflects
While watching from side on
And think that I'm perfect

Don't be too quick to judge
And say that I am shallow
Because I'm hiding pain
Which I won't foreshadow

Yes I might be see-through
When I let you look inside
But all the layers I have built
Forever I will hide...
