A Hearts Resistance

by BEJohnson   Jan 23, 2020

I'm not sure how you did it.
How you stole my heart from me.
It doesn't listen to me anymore.
I beg it to until I begin to plead.

It aches for you.
Clenches my lungs.
Steals my breath.
It has only begun.

It makes my eyes swell.
The tears slowly cascade.
The pain grows steadily.
Crashes down like a wave.

My mind is in turmoil.
Racing faster than sound.
I know you'll never be back.
Yet, my heart stands its ground.

It yearns for your presence.
Weeps in the dead of night.
No, it doesn't understand.
This time things won't be alright.

There's no denying truth.
I can't run from this.
Nothing hurts as much...
As a hearts resistance.
