The Beginning of the Rest of Our Life

by Glenn G   May 16, 2020

I first met her in the park
It was just before dark
She was swinging on the swing
That's when my heart began to sing

Like a nut I climbed the monkey bars
Got to the top and hung upside down
Making myself look like a fool by acting like a clown
I looked over at her and said,
"Hey you, did you know look better upside down?"

She tried hard not to laugh
But the smile it came anyway
I said, "My name is Ted"
She said, her name was Kay

It was about then that I fell off the bars
She began to laugh incredibly hard
I asked, "Do you always laugh at another person's pain?"
Or, when your boyfriend feels ashamed?
She said, "Don't stoke your ego"
You're not my type
And that, was the beginning of the rest our life
