Numb

by BEJohnson   Jun 23, 2020

She coils her hair beneath her fingers
As her hands violenty begin to shake.
Her muscles constrict as she whimpers.
Trusting herself shows to be a mistake.

She fought it all down- never faced it.
Now her demons emerge their heads.
Abuse. Heartache. Disgust. Hate.
Things she never could seem to shed.

She's heading towards rock bottom.
Her heart is wounded beyond repair.
She can't even depend on herself.
As her soul lies dormant in despair.

Her tongue betrays her repeatedly.
Never letting her voice her sorrow.
All her pain gets pushed down further.
She prays there will be no tomorrow.

She's been numb for so long.
As this void grows more and more.
She isn't even sure she remembers...
what real happiness feels like anymore.
