Daughter of a King

by Adelina Darllen   Oct 2, 2020

The little voices
Told a young girl
That she was
Worthless
Past repair
Stupid
Awful
Fat
A brat
A monster
Annoying
Repulsive
The worst
Unloved

They said that
She should die
Just leave
Stop bothering people
With her presence
Disappear
Hate herself

The girl believed them
She didn’t counter them
She soaked them in
Started to tell it to herself
She wouldn’t hear the kindness
Because of the voices yelling
Until she was a mess
Broken on the floor

Then a new voice
Whispered to the girl
Everything before was lies
Because she was
Beautiful
Precious
Kind
A miracle
Chosen
Intelligent
Loved
Gentle
Heard
Strong
A warrior
A temple
A daughter of a King

That she was worth
Any pain
Any suffering
Death
Life
Any price
To save her soul

The voice promised
She would be
Sustained
Protected
Freed
Given kingdoms

She would find
Peace
Joy
Success
Rescue
Refuge
Healing

All He asked was
That she would listen
Endure
Turn to Him
Follow Him
Be humble
Be willing

For she was
A daughter of a King
And she could defeat anything
If she was on His side
