A Wise Old Tree

by Walter   Jan 10, 2021

I am a plant, in nature I grow
I have been here for years, it's all that I know
And all that I ask for, since I was a seed
Sunlight and rain are all that I need

I work with the environment, I am not just one
And from what I take, I provide oxygen
This is a balance, all of nature will learn
Whatever we take, we'll give in return

But something went wrong, just recently
A new type of species, which all are greedy
They're at the top of the chain, but no one would guess
Since they've been here, they made such a mess

The air is polluted, no more I can breathe
And sunlight no longer, provides what I need
Clouds are replaced, with smog dark and grey
But rain from these clouds, no longer will spray

They also will kill us, because of our wood
Seems we only live, for their own good
They'll act like they have, nothing to fear
Let's see how they live, when we disappear
