Sweet and Sour

Sweet and Sour

As if bridging Scilla and Cariddi
may the friendly hand of senior years
even when already tardy
place some warmth
on that of years younger
Oh
redeeming veil of getting older

It is our memories
that make us relive our youth
and invites us to love
even those miserable times
of yesteryears in truth

We have switched now
from the known to the unknown
-largest and heartbreaking blow
uncertain of what will be shown
and impossible to forgo-

A sweet and sour shadow
of oranges and pineapples
today on the meadows
lived long time ago

lovely verses with nice rhyme. Thanks for bringing the legend of 2 monsters (Scilla and Cariddi) to my attention. I did not know the legend says they lived in the straits of Messina, protecting the coasts, causing seamen to lose their lives.
