Withering Away With Glory

by ddavidd   May 17, 2021

Who he lights the lamp of your smiles
occasionally
and sheds
the translucent tears of your white candle.

Who he has climbed,
the ladder
of your teeth
to the milky way.

Who he lights the candle of whiteness,
shedding the tears of your smiles
bittering all that were fun and seemingly
sweet enough to live for.

Who you should thank for stepping all over your heart
for now you can feel
the farthest flower in the world, you
who are withering away with glory,

and denying everything you have ever known
to remember
him.
