A Pledge to Promise

by Walter   Jun 26, 2021

Sometimes love is just meant to be
Like in a pod, there are two peas
When our paths crossed while at the lights
And then turned into pure delight
The times we shared while on this road
There was no rush so we just slowed
But we were never standing still
Our hearts would climb the highest hill

We shared our love; we shared our life
My dream to have you be my wife
A brilliant diamond with a rose
And on my knee I would propose
Your reaction was instantly
When straight away you would agree
Promises made what we would speak
Enduring love pledged on this peak

Love seems to always start this way
Though sometimes things will go astray
Especially when both so high
But from here on no longer fly
You have to accept this is life
Making a vow of man and wife
No matter who, both will struggle
With your clubs you learn to juggle

It's too easy to let it go
And lose the closest that you know
Then living a life of regret
When your true love you can't forget
Instead, you both should start to climb
The way you did when love was prime
And only when you reach this crest
Will love pay high with interest

For love to be a fairy tale
Without commitment won't set sail
