Avoidant

Isolation in the midst of a crowd
Seems to carry a special ache
Connection’s there if I reach out
And yet all I do is wait

I hate this dull feeling of hiding
Of trying to just feel safe
Of having relief so close at hand
And only receiving a taste

I see how the friend groups flourish
Then see how I drift away
I want to be close and safe, but
I’m neither cause I’m too afraid
