Your Fading Light

by Walter   Apr 2, 2022

I thought I knew the stars quite well
When now I look, I just can't tell
I used to think, its light would guide
But now I know, that it just lied

Because the brightest one of all
I was drawn and felt its call
There was no way I could resist
The light would pulse and persist

And all day, I'd wait for you
For when my star would come in view
And then I'd see you in the skies
The light which sparked from your eyes

I made a wish; I saw you first
But suddenly my bubble burst
And no more would you appear
Your light no longer helped me steer

I was lost without you there
And in the sky I would just stare
When now I am all alone
Because I thought a star I'd own

But just like love, the light that shines
Which can't be owned or claimed as mine
And this is never how love forms
When all you'll make are thunder storms
