NaPoWriMo Day 7

“my soul is …” she said thoughtfully

“wait. Hold that thought. Let me get a glass of water. I’m thirsty.” He said hurriedly

“Yes! that’s what my soul is!”, she said.

“He replied, “what?”

“Yes, like water. My soul is like water. My body is like that glass that holds the water. Some days, it feels like my soul is evaporating or being drank off from my body.”

He replied, “what?” With puzzled eyes.

“Remember the day at the movie theater? We were on our way to the car when a homeless man approached us? Well, that day, I felt this man’s thirst. He needed a bit of my soul that day. So, I gave him some of my attention and care. I immediately saw his eyes renew with life. I saw his body hydrating but something in me changed. I felt good but afterwards an immense sadness overfilled me. I could have done more for him. I felt like that glass of water you just drank. When I arrived home, and while talking to mom, I felt how her words slowly satiated my thirst but something in her seemed off despite how warmly her hug was.”

He replied, “Uhmm, I’ll get more water, do you want some?”
