Just Dust?

by Paul H   May 16, 2022

Shafts of sunlight
Fill my bedroom
Brightening the day
Banishing gloom.

Specks of mere dust
Glitter in light,
Almost nothingness,
Nearly out of sight.

A very thin film
Coats a golden scale,
Despicable dust,
Finger writes a trail.

Of such we are made
From the common earth
Yet, how important,
How much we are worth.

The bully may feel
You're nothing but dirt,
A useless nobody,
He piles on the hurt.

It matters not
What colour or hue,
What’s important is
That you are you.

A special person,
Of that you can trust;
No, you're not a nobody,
You're more than just dust!
