The Descent

by Cantchangeme   May 18, 2022

I’m going to jump into the lake
I’m going to smile on the way down
I’ll think of you so many miles always
Asleep and surrounded by flowers

I’ve swallowed all I can take
I’m sick of this grey town
That’s about all I can say
Counting down theses small hours

I’ll find a way to laugh at the pain
Mourn like a widow
I’ll bend till I break
Apologising for coughing

It’s dark but I can hear the rain
Through the cold of my window
Paralysed but wide awake
Descending to nothing
