Vanity And Virtue

by Shaun Cronick   Jul 6, 2022

Forget the slander you have heard.
Forget the poison of each word,
Forget the hate directed at you,
Forget the lies spoken by a few.
Forget the jealousies of the weak.
Forget the riches that they seek.
Forget the life of false pretence.
Forget the ego lacking moral sense.
Forget the languish of legions lost.
Forget the line that's always crossed.
Forget the agony of unfulfilled dreams.
Forget the loud with constant screams.
Forget the conflict you can't console.
Forget the anguish you can't control.
Forget the myriads that tear a soul apart.
Remember virtue dwells in a human heart
