Sorrowful Trees

by Shaun Cronick   Sep 25, 2022

Sorrowful trees,
Sallow and Yew.
Sighs are your breeze,
Tears are your dew.

Sad is your shade,
Gloomy and cold.
Where she is laid,
Under the mould.

Kind were her deeds,
Gentle and true.
Nothing she needs,
My soul subdued.

Funeral dark weeds,
Over her tomb.
Worn by my knees,
Under your gloom.

Spring will return,
Autumn brings leaves.
Summer shall burn,
Winter will freeze.

Seasons can range,
Ages may roll.
Nothing can change,
Grief in my soul.

Living I writhe,
Forever in pain.
Time with its scythe,
Wounds me in vain.

Still my heart bleeds,
Sadly I mourn.
Few were her needs,
Life I now scorn.

She was my life,
Sickness it came.
Cut like a knife,
Her to claim.

Her radiant face,
When we met.
Filled with grace,
I never forget.

Funeral dark weeds,
Where she is laid.
Sleeping at ease,
Under your shade.

Sighs are your breeze,
Tears are your dew.
Sorrowful trees,
Sallow and Yew.

Your poem beautifully expresses your grief. It really brings up my grief as I lost my girlfriend to cancer unexpectedly last September. Thank you for sharing.

I guess we both have something in common on that front sir. And thank you for taking the time to read and comment.
And life goes on, day by day, slowly but surely.
Take care and may God Bless and Keep you.
