Abstract Love

by Walter   Jan 18, 2023

She painted a picture and surprised me one day
Of artwork abstract, that would display
A present for me, though at first unsure
How I react, with what my eyes saw

She's studying me and can't help but grin
Expecting for certain, this reaction
I looked confused, despite my best try
To piece it together, how, when and why???

I smiled back at her and said it looks great!
She doesn't believe me, here comes a debate
So I thought I'd be honest, to not stand accused
And told her the picture, has made me confused

From her no reply, she knows me too well
With artwork abstract, my eyes just can't tell
Asking me to stand back, with her now to view
And starts to point out, just how to see through

She shows me some lines, that resembles two hands
And when they connect, the colours aren't bland
They're vibrant and loud, warm and invite
Because as they first touch, the aura's so bright

This is our journey, from when we first met
Our love shown as colours, on canvas have set
And it shows a path, if you look along
Where all colours flow, as if they belong

I'm suddenly in awe, when it all connects
Those vibrant brush strokes, now look perfect
And begin telling her, just what my eyes saw
Within this art work, which now I adore

So now she just nods, with all that I say
I can tell she's so proud, with her display
I ask if I'm right, with my review
She then holds my hand, while we both view

This is my picture, of feelings inside
With expression of colours, is how it's implied
Now that you see, with more than your eyes
When all your emotions, materialize

I told her I now see, all in the frame
And love is so often, much of the same
When in the midst, it might feel so abstract
We just need stepping back, before we react
