The First Dance

by Walter   Feb 4, 2023

She told me she couldn't dance
As the song we love would play
And awkward was her stance
When I began to sway

Her motions were all still
While I would slowly near
She didn't have the will
Like this her biggest fear

I took her by the hand
My arm around her waist
And led her to the band
Where we would slowly pace

Then facing eye to eye
No longer could she hide
While willing her to try
I'd lead to gently guide

As she moved close to me
When rhythm found her feet
Her eyes were all I'd see
While our skin would first meet

And both our looks would lock
As she would follow suit
Like learning how to walk
But with no more dispute

Now caught within this spell
When rhythm filled our hearts
And I couldn't even tell
While dancing to the charts

Because there's no excuse
To worry where we've stepped
And while we're letting loose
Our dancing moves perfect
