A Colourful Perspective

by Walter   Feb 22, 2023

Today I was feeling gloom
I had no energy
And outside was so miserable
As far as eyes could see

The weather was overcast
Prediction for some rain
No wonder I feel depressed
Stuck inside again

But then a change of mood
I suddenly didn't care
My heart and mind were convinced
I'm better off out there

Nor did I pack a thing
To protect me from the weather
I'd just face the elements
While we're out together

The first thing that I felt
From behind a gusty breeze
Although I didn't mind at all
It helps me walk with ease

Next was a sun shower
Parting clouds reveal the sky
And only a light sprinkling
Of which would fall nearby

Right into my garden bed
The rain drops gently fall
And flowers facing the sunlight
As if asking for some more

It's here now I would pause
To witness this exchange
While I'm watching nature's way
And how they'd interchange

The petals of all the flowers
Appreciate this gift
As sunlight reflects their colours
Towards the sky they'd lift

When I look in that direction
It was like a work of art
In the patches of blue sky
From where the clouds would part

A bright rainbow began to form
Reflections from the petals
And naturally its beauty shines
Revealing all the levels

And maybe not scientific
Where refraction is the cause
But while I'm here with nature
I do not follow laws

And just in that one moment
There's no way I'd deny
Those flowers from my garden bed
Paints rainbows in the sky

Apt title and and unfurling verse, line by line. Love it when gloom transforms into a burst of colour almost in the one breath. Cheers.
