Absentia

by Cantchangeme   Jun 21, 2023

There is a colour that I no longer seem to see
There is a chain I wear whenever I am free
The gift of absence whenever I’m in need
An absent you, a present me

Every photograph I take is incomplete
Every table always missing one more seat
A calming tone whenever I start to bleed
A missing you, a missing me

There is an emptiness even when I am full
A constant agony inside that will never dull
A blue abyss I am set to always feed
The peaceful you, revenant me

Every now and then I’ll find time to pretend
There’s a place I’ll be reunited with my friend
I’ll spiral knowing now like I’ll always do
It’s only me left missing you
