Before.

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 24, 2023

Before the stifling winds reach
the nape of my neck,
before the heat threatens to
expose surface wounds,

I'll love myself
in this calm.

In this morning peace
where the only sounds
are those I know and welcome -
the coffeemaker spurting out hello,
the AC unit preparing for the day.

Before my anxiety spikes,
before the day drags on,

I will sit with myself.

And breathe.

    Congratulations on your win!

I love this piece! Self-love and Me Time is very important. The below lines aced it.

    "Before the stifling winds reach
    the nape of my neck,
    before the heat threatens to
    expose surface wounds,

    I'll love myself
    in this calm".

    AND

    "Before my anxiety spikes,
    before the day drags on,

    I will sit with myself.

    And breathe".
