The Ugly Ducklings

by ddavidd   Aug 31, 2023

Only kids feel the suffocation,
adults are already suffocated.

The impetuous kites,
dying to see the world from a vantage point,
stretching their neck in an ashy sky,

like divers looking for the same hole in ice lake
which they plunged into earlier,
to find their way back to air,
to the oxygen.

But not anyone
has enough string in his neckless hank
to kite away
like "The Ugly Ducklings."
