A Walk in the Autumn Park

by Gracy Judith   Sep 5, 2023

To the park, I saunter,
on a crisp autumn dawn.
No grand quest beckons me,
just nature's grace and tranquil charm.

like confetti, trees shed leaves
in hues of amber and gold.
Such art unfolds as they waltz
in a swirl, to the sun-kissed ground.

As I tread along the scenic path
birdsong weaves a symphony.
My thoughts linger on what to pen,
on a day so verdant at my hand.

And when a squirrel scampers by,
its agility, catches my eager eye...
Its tail, a bushy brushstroke in the breeze
lending words to my empty page, with ease.

A vacant bench, I nearby see,
beneath an aged oak tree;
a timeless sanctuary,
a place to ponder and reflect.

What have I so far penned?
What should I now write next?

The serene lake mirrors
the flawless cerulean sky.
And a pair of mallards cast ripples
of sheer delight.

In this moment, so blissful,
my heart finds its path,
and my poem,
its new-born wings.
