Sometimes I Lie

by Eros   Sep 18, 2023

Sometimes my mouth speaks for myself -
If needed, it'll make it known to my beloved
That I'll cherish him just about seventy per cent,
Only unlocking the rest of my love for him to enter
When I feel like I've been introduced to the dining room
Of his own heart, first.
Such a naive...

Sometimes my belly rumbles, but never close to my chest -
The heart's always there, keeping it warm and full
Nurturing my system with its overflowing affection.
Such a waste...

Anytime, invite me in, I beg -
I need to know your home, so I can let you in, too
Or else my mouth will make it look like I am
Such a liar.

(I only lie when it’s harmless.)
