The Song of the West

by Eros   Oct 12, 2023

Come rest your eyelids with mine
I saved a space by my side –
Our bodies fit each other so fine,
I love that it makes me smile
I love how our legs intertwine

Allow yourself to fall asleep
I'll be going right behind you –
Lay your head on my chest,
Which song you'd like me to hum today for you:
Of the birds or of the winds of the west?

Minimal lilac tones of the dusk
Corroborate to the quietness of the evening –
Amidst the tall grass by the creek,
I receive the peaceful sleepiness that slips
Through the tall trees' leaves

Come rest your head with mine
Under the trees by the edge of the creek –
Listen and notice how things corroborate
To the quietness within my chest:
It’s your own tranquility and the song of the west

I love this. Reading this makes me feel tranquil and calm. I love how you tie things together especially in the last two stanzas. Well-written!

I believe that you, as a writer yourself, know how gratifying it is to have someone say something that lets you know you delivered the imagery and feeling you wanted to - therefore, I only have to appreciate your attention and time. I'm thrilled and glad you enjoyed the read.
