Brothers (English sonnet)

by Michael   Feb 29, 2024

We cannot choose the path that lies ahead,
for every step a new step starts to form.
There maybe times when flowers crowd the bed
and then alone you stand to face the storm.
I’ll help you through the pain of sticks and stones;
Where words are said in tones of black and blue.
I’ll kiss your wounds, and help your broken bones
and clear your tears to see a brighter view.
There will be times when I am not around,
so you, must seek the strength that lies within.
Your ship may sail but sometimes run aground
but I will find you through the thick and thin.
Our strengths will always help us overcome
and guide us from the clouds that hide the sun
