The Secrets Of The Deep

by Golden AnGel Rhapsodist   Jul 30, 2025

He called forth life from waters wide,
Where silent shadows used to hide.
The whale arose with breath and song,
To praise the One to whom all belong.

A prophet ran from Heaven’s face,
But found no shore, no secret place.
Yet mercy’s, whale rolled back the sea,
And Jonah rose, once lost, now free.

When Peter’s net came back with none,
The Savior spoke "It’s not yet done."
And fish obeyed their Master’s call,
Filling boats to nearly fall.

Two fish, five loaves, a hungry land—
Yet fed them all with just one hand.
He fed the crowds with gifts so small
Two little fish, yet fed them all.

A coin lay deep in silent throat,
A tax was paid by fish and boat.
No corner of the deep is bare
For God is present everywhere.

He marked the sea with sacred thread,
Where some bring life and some bring dread.
Each wave contains a deeper scroll
Of holy fire and sovereign goal.

The sea conceals, yet still reveals
The hand that shapes and breaks and heals.
Its creatures cry in hidden choir,
Of judgment, mercy, flood, and fire.

So praise the One who formed the deep,
Who sees the things no man can keep.
For every whale, each fin and scale,
Declares the Lord shall never fail.

So let us fear, and yet adore
The One who carved the ocean's soul.
For every tide that strikes the shore
Still bows to Him who makes it whole.

This is incredible. I grew up in Christian church and know all these stories. You make me nostalgic for it. The miracles and philosophies speak to so many different parts of my mind.

A prophet ran from Heaven’s face,
But found no shore, no secret place.
Yet mercy’s, whale rolled back the sea,
And Jonah rose, once lost, now free.

This in particular. I have felt called to return to my Christian roots. I think I will start with a Bible by myself, and meeting up with a friend. I miss the comfort that it brings. Maybe I am just like Jonah.

The tempo is great, the flow is wonderful. I could bob my head along to the syllables. You are truly a gifted poet. Easy to comprehend, to the point, with poetic skill.

Thank you for your feedback. Reading your poetry is a delight. I’m glad to have found your work.

I nominate you to win the front page. (If that is even still a thing…) There has been amazing poetry soothing my soul lately. You are a gift.

    May you be blessed <3
