Scared is a whisper

by Rowena Linley   Aug 27, 2025

Scared is a whisper lost in the night
Petrified screams louder than light
Your face
Your laugh
They keep me alive
Without them
I can’t survive

I’m petrified of losing you
Of the silence where your voice once flew
If you’re gone
What will I do
I’m petrified
I’m petrified of losing you

Your smile’s a map
It guides my way
Your laugh’s a song I need every day
But the thought of it fading
Slipping away
Breaks my heart in cruel display

Broken mind
Broken air
No repair
No repair

I’m petrified of losing you
Of the silence where your voice once flew
If you’re gone
What will I do
I’m petrified
I’m petrified of losing you

You’re the thread that holds my seams
The voice that wakes me from bad dreams
If you vanish
So will I
A shadow left beneath the sky
