Broken Pavement

by Ki-Eisha Rose   Jan 23, 2026

Scrolling through the shouting
Everybody drawing lines
Picking teams on broken pavement
Throwing stones at their own kind
I see your eyes
I see my fear
Just wearing a different name
Under all this painted armor
We are hurting just the same

Lost in a world full of hatred
When we are all one of the same
Bleeding the same red color
Crying the same quiet pain
If I reach out
Will you take it? (take it)
Can we step out of this flame?
Lost in a world full of hatred
When we are all one of the same

You were raised on different stories
I was taught a different prayer
But our mothers held us closely
Said the same words in the air
Every hunger
Every heartbeat
Every small and fragile dream
Under every different language
Is the same old human need

Lost in a world full of hatred
When we are all one of the same
Bleeding the same red color
Crying the same quiet pain
If I reach out
Will you take it? (take it)
Can we step out of this flame?
Lost in a world full of hatred
When we are all one of the same

What if being right
Means we both lose?
What if all this pride
Costs too much truth?
I don't want to fight
Someone who's me in you
Someone who's me in you (oh, in you)

Lost in a world full of hatred
When we are all one of the same
Bleeding the same red color
Crying the same quiet pain
If I reach out
Will you take it? (take it)
Can we turn this into change?
Lost in a world full of hatred
When we are all one of the same
