Can the Brutalized Conceptualize

by Timothy   Nov 18, 2025

The wall confines, it never forgives,
It holds me in, and denies the humane sieves;
Because weeding out a "nice" brother?
It's a rigmarole of "be kind to one another".

The wall is a fortress, he and his creed,
Four against one, THEIR kind of need;
Can the brutalized conceptualize,
Anything beyond their eyes?

A moment ago, perhaps a year,
I saw something...something beyond my tears;
Watching the wall in my heightened state,
There was an inch, there was a mile, in that damaged slate.

A crack in the defense, a chink in the armor,
And maybe God's will, the Almighty Disarmer?
Let the light in, let in the wind,
Let me escape and begin again!

But the night turned to the following May,
Thinking Seroquel, these days has more to say;
Why look up, just do as I am told,
The shuffle keeps you down, it keeps you old.

Watching the floor, a gray mass,
Breathing in that dull poison gas;
Nothing here, in this decaying brain,
Nothing here, to retain.
