Depth Over Attention

by Golden AnGel Rhapsodist   Mar 6, 2026

“I choose the depth, I skip the show,
I love my life and let it grow.”

I test the waters before I dive,
not from fear, but to feel alive.

I’ve learned that not each open door
was built to guard my breath and more.

I don’t step where I am not sought,
not from pride, but from the thought

that presence, mine, deserves respect,
and careless hearts I won’t affect.

I keep my circle soft and small,
not perfect, just sincere with all.

They hear my silence, see my tears,
and hold my heart when danger nears.

I’m not too hard to love or stay,
I walk my path a mindful way.

I’ve slowed my steps to let my heart
understand its gentle part.

I’ve poured my soul in empty hands,
in fleeting smiles and shifting sands.

Now only those who truly care
may share my stories, see me bare.

I need no noise to feel I’m known,
no crowds to claim a life I own.

I find my strength in mornings still,
and move with grace, not by my will.

I still give love. I still can feel.
I still am whole; my heart can heal.

But kindness now won’t cost my mind,
nor leave my quiet self behind.

I save my strength for those who stay,
for souls who meet me in their way.

For words that soothe, not words that bind,
for hands that heal, not those that blind.

So if I seem distant, understand:
I’m choosing peace, I take my stand.

I choose the depth, I skip the show,
I love my life and let it grow.

That’s me: not proud, not weak, not vain,
just learning love without the strain.

I guard what’s dear, I move with care,
and live a life beyond compare.
