~°*°~
Once upon a time, in years gone by,
I carried strength no fear could try.
Not like his power, not his size,
but steady hands and fearless eyes.
~°*°~
In Abu Dhabi, early days,
my work spoke louder than my praise.
First and second year, they clearly knew,
I lifted more than I was meant to do.
~°*°~
I wasn’t shy to take the load,
I wasn’t bossy on the road.
We stood as equals, side by side,
I just moved fast to help the line.
~°*°~
I only wanted things done right,
to finish early, clean and tight.
Not for glory, not for fame,
just teamwork flowing through my name.
~°*°~
A gallon lifted to the stand,
no struggle shaking in my hand
Twenty five kilos on my shoulder high,
I walked it through without a sigh.
Some coworkers stopped and stared,
their surprised smiles openly shared,
“Gelynn, you are strong like Spiderman .....
they laughed and clapped my biggest fan.....
~°*°~
And others said with shining cheer,
“A superhero from Philippines is here!”
I smiled, not proud of what I could show,
but proud of how I helped things go.
~°*°~
But life changed rhythm, slowed my pace,
when diabetes and angina joined my race.
I laughed it off yes, just a bit....
a softer fight I had to meet....

Now I avoid the sweets I loved,
I guard my health, I rise above.
I’m getting older, weaker too
at least in ways my body knew.
~°*°~
But listen close, and you will see,
my strength still quietly lives in me.
Not in my arms, not in my frame
but in my care, my will, my aim.
~°*°~
Before my arms were wide,
lifting the world with stubborn pride.
But hear this: I am still strong.
Not on my shoulders anymore,
~°*°~
But in my choices, in my discipline,
In the way I now carry my goals and dreams.....
Once upon a time,I lifted the world with my arms...
