Rah-Rah Speech

To be what is left
When everyone has taken what they wanted
The parts that served their purpose
The bits they could sell
That they could use for their gain
Yet I still exist
I still remain
Like a fossil in a rock
Stuck not knowing how long it is till I see the sun once more
Sunshine and rainbows
Great gifts

But there’s no such thing as a gift there’s a price for everything
The suns rays will give you cancer
And people set fire to rainbows
Since we learned to harness fire we became obsessed
Everything must burn
A legacy of fire and ash
One theft too far
Or an evolutionary car crash
And I’m bleeding out
Glass on tarmac
Stars and sky

The sky looks sick, each star one of a million oozing blisters
And I fall into the space between
The dead silence separated by agonies
Pain is a great teacher and still I run from its lectures
Tired of them
But the television plays the jingle
The more you know
I know nothing
Been a hundred different people
Never known not one
And liked far less
