Why do so many bad men turn to Jesus
And continue to act in heinous ways
It’s almost as though they don’t believe at all
But just using the word of god for plays
Why do so many molesters pick up the bible
And hold it upfront like a shield
I don’t know but maybe it’s all for show
To have protection stamped and sealed
Why do so many worship false idols
Wear two types of fibre against their skin
Coveting their neighbours ox
As long as the neighbour has less than them
How come we don’t mind the wanderer
As long as he’s a certain shade of white
How are we not moving backwards
If we’re taking away peoples rights
How come a religion which preaches kindness
And who’s protagonist celebrates the meek
Seems to want to put a twisted cross on one
And stick a bullet in the other cheek
And now I know you might be getting angry
And you think I’m sitting here playing
But I knew Christians when I was young
Who were much better at it is all I’m saying
When I was at my lowest as a kid
Thought I was dying, I was relieved
I was lifted up and shown love by people
I was grateful even though I never believed
And now I’m not trying to get aggro
Truth is I don’t think we’ll ever all get along
But tip the scales once more to kindness
Be there for people let them feel they belong
