The Portrait Ponders

by Timothy   Oct 23, 2026

Move into the art room, amber light,
Five centuries of delight;
Something of a beyonder,
The Portrait Ponders.

Given a second look, more miniscule,
A fallacy Holmes tool;
Face the center, and all the corners,
The Portrait Ponders.

Inspect it's value, laugh at it's pomposity,
A house, a neighborhood, God's generosity?
Focus again, cerulean eyes, can it be in order?
The Portrait Ponders.

The paint decays, cracked and unhued,
What happened, great Accessor, grim and glued;
The mirror decides the face of the wanderer,
Yet...The Portrait Ponders.
