Elderly people

by Erica Taylor   Jul 18, 2004

Watching sadly
as they slowly walk
pushing and forcing
every bone to lock

uncomfortable eyes
and desperate faces
pain and misery
is taking place in them

as i sadly sit
and watch them push forward
I wish i could help them
so this journey did not seem so long

a tear trickles down
my face turns red
my heart is yelling
I hope not to offend

I approach the old man
with a concerned face
I hope he dose not get mad
or push me away

hoping I can take
some uncomforts away
I'd love to help you
I'm not going to watch you struggle this way

as i leaned over
and linked my arm to his
I helped this old man
make it to the end

the time was priceless
to see his bright smiling face
to know that young people still care
about what hurts him today

so those that see
don't just watch
get the courage to offer
a helping hand can do a lot
