The Flood

by Charles   Jul 28, 2004

I had lost it all in just one night
I had gone camping and God took it with his might!
My home, My love, My way of life.
He took it all and left only strife.
It had all started when the sky began to rain.
I was so far away yet I knew when the flood came.
When the Thunder sounded, and lightning lit the sky
Death claimed another, my love love had died.
even though I was miles away, camping on a river bank,
I knew something had happened when my heart had sank.
The very next morning I flew home right away,
The following week the expected funeral came.
I attended the service with tears in my cheeks,
The Preacher said his words and gave my sweet Heather eternal peace.

I wrote this poem the other night when i was sitting on my front porch, remembering the flood that swept through West Virginia in 2003, I know it isn't much but if you could vote/comment I would appreciate it, thanks and enjoy :)
