Why?

by Mild insomnia   Jul 29, 2004

There’s nothing to say, when we have time,
And when we’re apart, the weather’s fine,
Why does it rain, when we have plans?
Feels like there’s a curse on us, when we hold hands.
(When we have plans.)

When you’re here, you disappear.
When I’m lost, I know you’re near.
We’ll play by ear.

I’ll make a call, and we won’t talk.
And when you’re far, we wanna walk.
Why did the car brake down, when we wanted to meet?
Up against the force of god, how can we compete?
(How can we compete?)

When you stop round, it feels like you’re away,
But I’ll miss you, when you don’t stay.
What can I say?

How can we make this work?
How can we compete?
Why does everything seem bittersweet?
When, will we ever make this work?
I’m willing to try to,
Are you?

If I’m on the net, you’re on the phone,
And when you’re downstairs, I feel alone.
If I’m in traffic, my mobile’s dead,
You wanna call me, but you’re outta cred.
If I’m trying to reach you, you’re on a train,
Just as it connects, you’re out of range.
Ain’t love so strange?

Up against the force of god,
Trying to fight, a battle, lost.

Striving in vain, knowing that I’ll fall,
What am I waiting for, if anything at all?
