Greenhouse

And the sun is shining through all the windows,
The summer fumes are bursting into rainbows,
The glass is blazing in the shadows…

The trees are slouching in the breath of august,
The brown valleys shattering the earth’s crust,
The lakes are slowly sinking to dust…

The grapes are ripe in the vineyards early,
Falling from the branches – burning,
And the wine just doesn’t taste as sweet.

Rivers struggling through the canyons,
The well at Kore with no companion…

The sky’s ablaze in all of its azure rhapsody,
A chorus of clouds melt in the foolish heat,
And the renegade cars circling the street…

Like vultures scour the African landscape,
We prey on answers but it’s far too late,
Warnings are scattered all over the place.

The streams are cracking in the hills,
The paint is snapping on windowsills,
The tarmac’s sun -stained and still,
We’re here watching the rays spill…
Upon the ground, and it’s filled,
With sunshine it bubbles and swills…

The trees are slouching in the breath of august,
The brown valleys shattering the earth’s crust,
The lakes are slowly sinking to dust…

Like vultures scour the African landscape,
We prey on answers but it’s far too late,
Warnings are scattered all over the place.
