Things I should have said

by Mild insomnia   Jul 8, 2005

I close my eyes,
sat in the station,
and I nearly cried,
your lack of patience,
and assuming mind,
led to the creation,
of our demise.

The pool's too deep,
the sides are too high,
and the waters leak,
into the night,
when you're fast asleep,
and I'm wondering why,
I didn't stand and speak.

I'd have told you...
If it mattered.
I would have let loose,
the dreams that were shattered...

The glass is sharp,
I see it gleaming,
in the waiting dark,
I feel it bleeding,
in my hollow heart,
and I see you reading,
every tiny mark.

I can't let go,
I never wanted to,
but you'd never know,
how much I wanted it too,
cos it rarely showed,
and I was so confused,
I couldn't really cope.

I'd have loved you...
Next september.
My number's in your bedroom,
If we care to remember...

I'd have told you...
If it mattered.
I would have let loose,
the dreams that were shattered...
