Shall I Compare Thee!!! (Sonnet)

by Robert Gardiner   Aug 8, 2004

Shall I Compare Thee!!! (A Sonnet)

Shall I Compare Thee, to a Red, Red Rose?
No! You are, More Vibrant and Beautiful.
To your Splendor, There's, Nothing, To Come Close.
There is, no Love, that I would Rather Hold.
Shall I Compare Thee, to a Starry Night?
No! For Stars, I have seen, Fall, from the sky.
Stars Fade away and thusly, Lose, their Light,
But, Never, Shall You Fall, Fade, In My Eyes.
Shall I Compare Thee, to a Work of Art,
Sculpted, Painted, or Wonderfully Scribed?
No! The Beauty, Rapture, which you Impart
Could not be Sketched, Fashioned, nor could One Write.
Hands, of a Man, Could Not Such Grace Design.
To Compare, to you, Nothing, I Can Find.

Inspired By William Shakespeare's Sonnet # 18 "Shall I Compare Thee"

    Robert,

I love how you’ve taken the timeless inspiration of Shakespeare and made it your own....
The vivid imagery and heartfelt admiration really shine through, especially in lines like ‘But, Never, Shall You Fall, Fade, In My Eyes.’ It’s clear how much care and passion went into crafting each comparison Beautifully done!"
