Covered In Red

by Natalie   Aug 29, 2004

No matter how much I tried,
To get into you,
And make you feel this way,
You only got worse.

I wore my heart on my sleeve,
Your feelings for me you hid,
I didn't know you'd be like this.

Your words gnawed into me,
Breaking and tearing me apart,
But you were too blind to see that I began
To hate you with your
Every word,
So I broke the chain
And said ‘goodbye.

Your pride shined bright,
You knew you needed me like the air you breathe,
But this was something
You wouldn't admit.

You soon gave in,
And came crying back,
I held your hand,
And tried my best to make you feel better,
But the true you came out later,
Sweetie something tells me,
That you're just a faker.

What made you say those words of regret?
If you'd only deny
Them seconds after.
You made me believe in you,
You said your lame excuses,
And all your ‘sorry's,
You said you had changed,
But I guess they were all lies,
Cause you can't change,
You're in too deep now.

I didn't think it would ever end like this,
But maybe its better off this way,
Cause you weren't making me feel better,
You were slowly breaking me
And not leaving a trace.

So don't say another word,
You only make things worse,
Just wither away,
It won't ever go your way.
