Friends (Pantoum)

by My Obsεssion   Sep 9, 2004

Always there to help you out
A smiling face when you are blue
That is what friends are all about
Always there to help you through

A smiling face when you are blue
Here through the good times and bad
Always there to help you through
Here to cheer you up when you are sad

Here through the good times and bad
Always there to stick up for you
Here to cheer you up when you are sad
Remaining by your side tried and true

Always there to stick up for you
Always there to help you out
Remaining by your side tried and true
That is what friends are all about

**Read some other people's pantoums and thought I'd try my hand at one.. The rhyme scheme is ABAB CDCD and the lines go 1234 2546 5768 7381. It might be kinda confusing seeing it written all out like that but if you look at it and then my poem I'm sure you'll get it**

AWESOME! Great poem...and awesome format! It flows so well, and does not feel forced at all.

Ohh i love pantoums. This was was very sweet, usually pantoums are about single moments, or a caption of an emotion. I loved how you did this slightly differently and about the meaning of friendship. I thought you used the form very well, and for a first one i'm very impressed.
Only i always thought in the last stanza the second and fourth lines were turned around so it's opposite to the first. It would read as...
"Always there to stick up for you
That is what friends are all about
Remaining by your side tried and true
Always there to help you out"
Very well done i loved it!

  • It is definetly hard to write a Pantoum. And you have done it pretty well. I felt that the flow of the poem was sacrificed a bit. But that had nothing to do with the pantoum style. Great go. You are greatly talented.
