My Women

My stupidity,
Is legendary;
With my attempts at conquest,
I'm mediocre at best.

My love life has never played with a full deck,
And it seems all my relationships end up a train wreck;
I start out with all the right answers; all the right lines,
But soon I'm messing up, and missing the signs.

When I try to interact with my pre-teen daughters,
I want to be considerate, but somehow I always falter;
They have been away, it seems forever,
But holding them in my arms again; it is something I endeavor.

I wasn't there for the "birds and the bees",
God, help make me a better man...please!
It won't be long, be it boy or man,
Before someone else will be taking my babies by the hand.

    I did not mean anything abd to Meena. I talk to her in emails a lot. It was meant more as a joke. But thanks for the comments people.

    wow everything eirisa said i wnted to say. I never stopped and tryed to see things from my dads point of view before. I think my husband should read thing because him and his father have gone months w/out talking. I don't think he reilzes that one day his dad will be gone and he will only be filled w/ regret. ANyways I really liked this one, great job.

    I liked this poem - it was really reallistic yet very open and heartfelt - i have never stopped to see things from this perspective - like what it may look llike from the eyes of my dad - thanks for opening my eyes and sharing a great poem! And i dont think meena meant anything by her comment - just that you were being really open and honest and that your poem was straight from the heart - no hidden agendas and i agree with her an appreciate it very much ...
