Denizen of the Dark

by Timothy   Sep 21, 2004

When the light at the end of my tunnel has been extinguished,
How can you say that a bright future is on my horizon?
This macabre lifestyle is a daily ritual,
To this place of funereal discontentment I have become a denizen.

My paramour is only a heartbeat that is trickling to finality,
A companion of agonizing oppression...
And together we drink our fill of despair in our debauchery,
My regret has become an unhealthy obsession.

The creature within me is something straight from Darwinism,
The Mr. Hyde inside me has seeded itself like a fibrous parasite;
A mindworm of an unearthly, ravenous appetite,
But somehow, in the end, I do not want OUT of my plight.
